Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is a state agency dedicated to managing and protecting Texas’s natural and cultural resources. Through wildlife conservation, habitat protection, and the preservation of historically significant sites, the department plays an important role in maintaining the state’s environmental health. Alongside these efforts, it promotes outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, boating, hunting, and camping, allowing the public to enjoy Texas’s natural landscapes responsibly. By balancing conservation with public access, the department supports both environmental sustainability and recreational use. However, prolonged drought conditions across Texas have created increasing challenges for ecosystems and water-dependent recreation. In response, the agency began exploring semi-permanent, environmentally responsible solutions to help address the ongoing impacts of drought while supporting long-term conservation objectives.
The section of the lake designated for boat launching had been experiencing persistently low water levels over an extended period of time, creating significant challenges for both recreational users and the surrounding community. As water levels continued to decline, the boat launch area became increasingly unusable, severely limiting, and in some cases completely preventing boats from safely entering the lake. This lack of access negatively affected local boaters who rely on the launch for recreational activities, as well as nearby businesses that depend on consistent lake access to support tourism, rentals, and related services. The ongoing reduction in water levels not only disrupted recreational opportunities but also contributed to economic strain within the local area, highlighting the urgent need for a sustainable solution to restore safe and reliable access to the lake.
To address the accessibility issues caused by low water levels, a 50 foot section of C40 Trackway® with a width of 4.2 meters was installed and securely anchored in place to ensure long-term stability and safety. The installation process was carefully carried out to provide a durable and reliable surface capable of supporting repeated boat launches under challenging conditions. Once in place, the temporary Boat Ramp significantly improved access to the lake, allowing boat launches to continue despite the dry, drought-prone months. This solution restored functionality to the launch area, enabling local boat enthusiasts to regain mobility and resume recreational and commercial activities. By maintaining consistent access to the water, the installation helped reduce disruptions for the boating community and supported continued use of the lake during prolonged periods of low water levels.

“From ordering to installation, the process was very easy. The team at FAUN Trackway USA, Inc. did a great job.”
