Atqasuk has long been established as a hunting and fishing ground. Located inland from the Arctic Ocean on the Meade River, about 60 miles southwest of Utqiagvik, it is part of the North Slope Borough, which takes pride in the local community and sustainable lifestyles. Therefore, it was vital to find an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for boat launch access.
The area for boat launches was very soft and unstable at average water levels. These conditions resulted in difficult launches through the fine sand, preventing safe and controlled launches.
15m of C40 Trackway® (3.3m width) was installed and secured with anchors. Once installed, the Boat Ramp provided stability for launching boats. The Boat Ramp withstands extreme temperatures and maintains its functionality when iced over. If required, it can be recovered and moved to an alternate location.

“The area for boat launches was very soft and silty. The C40 Trackway® Boat Ramp Kit has been successfully deployed and recovered, and the variety of components have proved to be sufficient for the various requirements in this location.”
